AT A GLANCE
No previous diving experience required, just a comfortable splash! Complete a short, easy theory briefing on arrival, followed by a relaxed pool session or 2x ocean dive up to 12m. Perfect for curious adventurers wanting a safe, guided taste of the sea. Minimum age is 10 years old. Check the booking schedule to secure your spot or get intouch to book when it suits you.
WHAT HAPPENS, STEP BY STEP
Pool Discover Scuba
Choose Pool • CALM POOL PRACTICE
Meet your instructor, get fitted into dive gear and take things completely at your own pace. In the shallow pool, learn how light and easy breathing underwater feels while trying out basic safety skills. Once you feel completely comfortable, you can book a discover scuba trip out to a beautiful, calm bay (such as Matauri Bay) to explore vibrant local marine life side-by-side with your instructor.
Ocean Discover Scuba
Choose Ocean • YOUR FIRST TWO OCEAN DIVES
If you choose the ocean discover scuba, we take it slow and easy just like the pool. You'll take your first breaths underwater and practice a few basic, confidence-building skills. Once you are comfortable, the real fun begins! Your instructor will guide you on a closely supervised open water dive to a maximum depth of 12 meters. You'll get to swim around, explore the marine life and experience the incredible feeling of weightlessness. After the dive, we head back to the shop to log your very first underwater adventure. Sites depend on conditions.
GEAR SORTED. HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED.
The course provides all of your diving equipment, including mask, snorkel, a 7mm wetsuit, fins, boots, weights, BCD, regulators and dive computer. Enrolled students receive 10% off storewide, with 5% off computers and drysuits. Confirm any exclusions with the shop.
BEFORE YOU BOOK
Read the terms, conditions and risk disclosure and complete the medical and liability forms before booking. If your medical answers require a doctor’s clearance, arrange it before diving. You should be comfortable in the water. Ask us about any concerns before committing. Discover Scuba training is for ages 10+.
